ANSWERS:

1.    What courses are required in order to graduate?

You must pass all the core courses (IE101-IE105) and at least five of the elective courses.

2.    Will the certificate of completion be nationally recognized?

IEU is not an accredited institution. It was created by Contemporary Controls to aid the industry in understanding Industrial Ethernet technology which is impacting modern automation systems. The certificate provides the means for a student to demonstrate to a superior that a basic competency of the technology has been gained. With the passage of time, the recognition and relevance of our certificate will be governed by industry acceptance.

3.    Why am I unable to login — even though I have properly registered?

This could happen if your web browser is operating within an email application. If so, terminate your email application and operate your browser independent of any other application.

4.    Can I start a session and return to it, or must I finish before logging off?

There is no specific time commitment to take a course. You may login for 5 minutes or 5 hours, as you please. The only consideration in this regard is the taking of a test. Once you begin a test, you must finish it in one session or lose the answers you have provided up to when you quit the test. Quitting a test before finishing it has no negative consequence for your course standing. It's just that once you resume a previously started test, you must re-enter your previous answers because the testing program starts afresh — as though the test had never been attempted.

5.    Must I register to take a course?

If you wish, you can audit the course material without registering. But if you do not register as a student, you cannot take the tests nor obtain a certificate.

6.    How many questions can I miss and still pass a test?

A passing grade on any test is 8 out of 10 correct, and you can re-take a test. However, the system does not remember your answers. It only remembers your grade. Therefore, when re-taking a test, you need to re-enter all answers — even those that were correct all along!

7.    Is there a "printer friendly" version for each course?

The web pages are only available in the format that you see online. They have been arranged in sections/pages for convenient printing. Hopefully, they will work for you.

8.    Must a course be completed within a specific time?

There is no time limit for completing a course. Each student works completely at his or her own pace.

9.    When I log in I see, "Login Successful! Welcome back," but when I continue to the members page, I get, "You must login before you can continue". What is wrong?

Confirm that your browser is enabled for cookies and ASP service, then try again.
